Caravan-Plass Mariana

Born on March 28, 1969, in Ramnicu Valcea.
Married, currently living in Sundern, Germany.
Although a Maths teacher, she is currently working for the company owned with her husband, taking care of accounting and personnel matters.
She is FIDE Master in OTB chess, a game she's been practicing since she was just a little girl. Took part in numerous national and international tournaments, obtaining good results and several wins against players with international titles. Achievements: 11 starts in the final of the Romanian National Chess Championship for Women, during 1987-1998 (in 1998 she moved to Germany). Best results: 3rd position in 1996 edition and 4th position in 1997. During this period, she has been selected in the Romanian extended olympic chess team.
She begun playing correspondence chess in 1996. Master at correspondence chess. Member of the Chimia Ramnicu Valcea team, winner of CNEC-4, when she scored 6,5 points at second board. While starting in one single edition, she won the title in the 15th edition of the Romanian National Correspondence Chess Tournament for Women. With the results obtained so far at first board in Champions League she managed to obtain a first norm for the IM title.

Dutu Florin

Born on May 26, 1968 in Ramnicu Valcea.
Not married, working as advisor in the Valcea County's Department for Child Rights Protection.
Begun playing chess at the age of 18. Candidate Master at OTB chess. Among his first achievements: two titles at the National University Championship of Brasov, in 1987 and 1988. Good recent results in ”Cetate” Cup - Deva 1999, ”Seaside Trophy” B - Eforie Nord 2000, ”Constantin Radulescu Memorial” - Calimanesti 2001.
Master in correspondence chess. Participating since 1995. Among best results: third place in Paul Farago Farago Cup 17th edition, 8th place in National Championship Final - 35th edition, first place in preliminary group EM/J50/P178 of the ICCF Jubilee. 
Member of the national team in the semi-final of the 15th edition of the Correspondence Chess Olympiad.
Played for Chimia Ramnicu Valcea in CNEC 4th and 5th editions. Captain of the team in Champions League.

Manea Alexandru

Born on November 18, 1981, in Ramnica Valcea.
Not married, student at the Psychology Faculty of the "Transilvania" Univerity, Brasov.
Master at OTB chess (Elo 2307), title obtained in 1998. Among his performances:

  • 1st place at "Coca Cola" trophy, Olanesti 1998, under 20;
  • 5th place in the National under-18 Championship in 1999;
  • 1st place at "Automn cup", Calimanesti 1999;
  • 1st place in generl open of the "Victor Ciocaltea" memorial, Bucuresti 2000;
  • participant in the National Championship Final, 2001 and 2002.

He has only one participation in chess by correspondance, XVth edition, ended in 1998, and he finished 3rd.

Fratila Adela
Born on March 15, 1979, in Ramnicu Valcea.
Not married, student at the National Academy for Phisical Education and Sport, Bucharest, and chess instructor at the Children's Pallace in Ramnicu Valcea.
FIDE Master at OTB chess, taking part in competitions since since was 8 years old. Among her best results:
  • 1st place in the National u-10 Women Championship in 1988;
  • 3rd place National u-14 Women Championship in 1990, and u-16, in 1994;
  • two national titles with the Policolor Bucuresti chess team in 1997 and1998;
  • two starts in the Women National Championship Final in 1996 and 1997.
She is Master at correspondance chess. Among her results:
  • 3,5(8) at first table for the Romanian national team in the final of the 5th Women Correspondance Chess Olympic Games. Our team has placed 5th in this competition.
  • 3rd place in the XVth edition of the National Women Championship, ended in 1999.
